A reactor pressure vessel with a diagrid support is designed so that complex stresses due to the support are reduced. The diagrid structure is mounted across the lower end of a first skirt inside the pressure vessel, the first skirt is attached at its upper end to a second skirt spaced from the first skirt, the second skirt is secured at its bottom to the pressure vessel, and the pressure vessel is mounted on an external bottom support skirt which forms a continuation of the second skirt throughout the pressure vessel wall. Thus, means is provided for relative movement between the diagrid and the pressure vessel. (D.L.C.)
