IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO DEVICES FOR FIXING AND REMOVING CLOSURE PLUGS OF REACTOR CHANNELS
In order to fix a closure plug in the end of a reactor channel a series of levers is pivotally mounted in the plug's body. These levers are provided with lugs adapted to engage in a first end position into a groove in the channel wall, while in the second end position the plug is free to be removed. The handling tool for removing the plug comprises a tube, the end of which joins the channel end-nozzle and a grip comprising a head in which are pivotally mounted a series of levers, each provided with inner and outer lugs. Each of these grip levers is movable between two end positions by the action of the movement of a rod adapted to slide axially within the grip. The inner lugs serve to engage with a piece axially slidable within the plug's body between a first position locking the plug's levers in their engagements with the wall and a second position wherein the plug's levers are free to be moved by the action of the outer lug of the levers of the grip, thus engaging at the same time with a shoulder of the plug, such as to couple with it. The plug can then be withdrawn into the tube of the handling device. (HB)
