PLUGGING DEVICE FOR HIGH PRESSURE VESSELS AND GRIP FOR PLACING OR REMOVING IT
A plugging device for high pressure vessels comprises a cylindrical body closed at its bottom and adapted to engage in a vertical cylindrical passage constituting the opening of the vessel to be closed. Near its upper end, the inner wall of said tubular passage is provided with an annular groove in which the ends of the locking means, transversally sliding in said cylindrical body, may engage. These locking means pass through openings of a ring axially slidable on the upper portion of the body preventing the passage of the organs when the body does not engage in the tubular passage for plugging, while by the placing of the body the said ring abuts against a shoulder provided in said tubular passage, so that it moves axially with respect to the body giving free the passage of the locking organs throungh the opening of the ring. Links with horizontal rotation axis are pivotly mounted in the body, each engaging with one of said locking organs and with its other extremity with a further organ horizontally slidable in a lower portion of the body. The said further organ is coupled by said link with the locking means, so that, when moving these means, they move in opposite directions. These means are adapted to engage with control lugs movably mounted on vertical axles in a grip adapted to place or remove the said body. The said lugs control the movement of the said organs or engage with the said body for coupling or for releasing it. The movement of the lug is controlled by the vertical movement of the grip suspended on a cable. (NPO)
