A handling device of the type associated to the platform of a travelling bridge and comprising a head which is integral with an axially fixed but angularly adjustable outer tube wherein is coaxially mounted an inner tube adapted to slide with respect to the first tube, said inner tube carrying a gripping device at the free end thereof characterized in that the inner tube is angularly fixed with respect to the outer tube, while that tube and the head taken as a whole contain a mechanism for axially displacing the inner tube, the unit formed by the tube end the head being pivotally mounted with respect to the platform.
