HEMORRHAGIC SYNDROME IN RATS FED IRRADIATED BEEF. Progress Report No. 7, September 1, 1962-March 1, 1963

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4619710
Studies on the effects of irradiated beef in the diet on the induction of the hemorrhagic syndrome in rats indicate that the condition may be the result of irradiation destruction of vitamin K in beef. Data are presented on prothrombin levels observed in rats on purified diets and diets containing beef, soy, casein, casein plus squalene, extracted beef proteins, or rendered or extracted beef fat, and in chicks on diets containing various oils.
