Time-resolved circular dichroism spectroscopy in the nanosecond and picosecond time regimes is described in this paper and applied to the study of heme protein structure changes following ligand photodissociation and intermediates of bacterial photosynthetic reaction centers. These techniques help provide new information about the structural dynamics and electronic states of reaction intermediates. 68 refs., 15 figs.
