From international symposium on dynamics of ionized gases; Tokyo, Japan (13 Sep 1971). See CONF-710921 --. It was established earlier that the one- dimensional plane magneto-acoustic waves with small but finite amplitude in a cold collisionless plasma can be described by the Korteweg--de Vries equation, provided that the undisturbed state is homogeneous. Here, the effect of inhomogeneity in plasma density and transverse magnetic field on the propagation of such waves is studied theoretically. (MOW)
