Supporting device for a fuel element in a nuclear reactor channel (in French)

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4428270
A supporting device for the fuel elements in a channel of an HTGR nuclear reactor is described. In this type of reactor, the fuel elements may be in the form of hollow cylinders each consisting of a stock of annular nuclear fuel pellets distributed in a supporting matrix. In the device envisaged longitudinal fins are provided along the inner aurface of the channel receiving the fuel element. These fins are regularly arranged about the axis of the channel and are provided with protuberances towards their inner parts. The radius at the lower end of these fins is greater than that presented along the rest of their length. The wide parts engage in the open vertical slits provided at the lower end of the fuel element. (FR)
