A support device was developed for high temperature nuclear reactor fuel cartridges contained in a vertical channel provided in the prismatic graphite block, the length of this channel being equal to the length of the cartridge. The device is provided with a raised radial finned surface which is partly supported by the ported surface of the vertical canal and which extends in a direction parallel to the axis of this channel. The device is also partly supported by the outer surface of the fuel cartridge which fits coaxially into the channel, the fins of the channel and those of the cartridge fitting together. These fins are interrupted along their lengths in such a way that each fin of the channel corresponds to a fin of the cartridge, the sum of the lengths of the fins corresponding to the total common length of the cartridge and the channel.
