Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:442338
A gas cofiring and validation project was conducted at New England Power Company`s Brayton Point Station in Somerset, Massachusetts. The objectives of this project were to deploy the use of gas cofiring to reduce unburned carbon levels in fly ash, reduce NOx emissions, enhance the use of alternative `problem` compliance coals and to recover or avoid operating derates and maintain high unit availability. An additional objective of this project was to investigate and test the use of upper furnace main gas burners for achieving `close-couple reburn` of NOx emissions.
