Effect of postirradiation incubation on uv-sensitivity of Escherichia coli strains deficient in different steps of dark repair (in Russian)
The uvr 502 mutants of Escherichia coli, which have reduced ability to repair DNA single-strand breaks introduced in the course of the incision step of excision repair, show a higher survival after uv-irradiation when plated on a minimal glucosesalt medium than when plated on nutrient agar. The extent of minimal medium recovery (MMR) in the uvr 502 strain was several times lower than in the uvr A6 mutant. Introduction of the uvr 502 mutation in the uvr A6 strain reduced the extent of MMR to the level observed for the single uvr 502 mutant. In contrast to the MMR of uvr A6 mutant, MMR of the uvr 502 mutant remained unaffected after the introduction of the recAor recB- mutations in the uvr 502 genetic background. (auth)
