Self-supporting uniform deuterated-polyethylene foils with thicknesses between 10 mu g/cm/sup 2/ and 2.5 mg/cm/sup 2/ and with an area of about 5 cm/ sup 2/ have been prepared. Control of the temperature conditions, substrate and the solvent-evaporation rate determine the quality of the foils. (auth)
