New modification of the radioimmunoassay for human prolactin (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Nippon Naibumpi Gakkai Zasshi, v. 49, no. 3, pp. 577-579
A new modification of the Jacobs et al's radioimmunoassay method for human prolactin was devised. In this improved method, purified porcine prolactin for iodination, anti-ovine prolactin guinea pig serum for antiserum, and purified porcine prolactin for standard were used respectively. The slope of the dose response curve of the purified porcine prolactin was demonstrated to be parallel to that of diluted sera of postpartum lactating women. Our method is different from the Jacobs et al's method, in using purified porcine prolactin instead of the specific patient serum for standard. The Jacobs et al's method requires to bioassay the prolactin content of the standard patient serum, but our method does not need such complicated procedure. According to our method, the prolactin content in the human serum can be expressed directly in terms of international unit of prolactin. (auth)
