Mean lifetime of the 1612 keV level in $sup 37$Ar

The recoil-distance method was used to measure the mean lifetime of the J/sup pi / = 7/2-, 1612 keV level in /sup 37/Ar. The level was populated via the /sup 34/S( alpha ,n)/sup 37/Ar reaction at E/sub alpha / = 7.9 MeV. T he mean lifetime was found to be 6.47 plus or minus 0.22ns. (auth)
