Studies in collimator and scanner performance. III. Response to line sources

The response of 9-hole and 19-hole collimator-detector systems to line sources of various isotopes is described. A comparison of point source and line source response has been made. The isotopes selected for the experiments are / sup 203/Hg (280 keV), /sup 131/I (364 keV), /sup 198/Au (420 keV), /sup 137/Cs (660 keV), and /sup 59/Fe. The computation of the modulation transfer function (MTF) from the observed line source response and the evaluation of collimator performance by the MTF are discussed. (INIS)
