INTERNAL BREMSSTRAHLUNG ACCOMPANYING THE P$sup 32$ /cap beta/ DECAY (in Russian)

The spectrum of interral bremsstrahlung following P/sup 32/ BETA decay was studied for the energy range 20 to 1215 kev. A single-channel scintillation spectrometer with NaI(Tl) crystal, 29 mm in diameter and 14 mm thick and in an aluminum container, was used. Spectra from two sources (with 2 and 0.11 mc activity) were studied. The spectrometer was calibrated by the gamma lines from Zn/sup 65/ (1.12 Mev), Cs/sup 137/ (662 kev), Au/sup 198/ (412 kev), Cr (323 kev), and Hg/sup 203/ (279 kev) and by the x ray line K/sub alpha /Pb at 75-kev. The total internal bremsstrahlung quanta per BETA decay was equal to 2.89 x 10/ sup -3/ mc/sup 2// BETA , which is 22% larger than the theoretical value 2.37 x 10/sup -3/ mc/sup 2// BETA . The results are in good agreement with the data of K. Liden et al. (Arkiv Fyz. 7, 427, 1954). (R.V.J.)
