Process for preparing oxymethylene polymer (in Japanese)
A thermostable oxymethylene polynmer is obtained in one-stage polymerization of cyclic oligomer of fermaldehyde in the presence of carboxylic anhydride as well as thiocyanate ester with multiplication effect thereof without any catalysts. In order to improve polymerization, ultraviolet light and/or ionizing radiation may be used before and/or during polymerization. The radiation dose may be 10/sup 2/ to 10/sup 8/ rads. In solid-phase polymerization, with the crystal of oligomer such as trioxane and tetraoxane, thiocyanate ester in an amount between 0.01 and 10% by weight and carboxylic acid anhydride in an amount between 0.001 and 15% by weight are either contacted in the form of drops, atomized droplets or gas, or mixed by melting and then solidified after contact with said crystal. In liquid-phase polymerization, either thc direct addition to the liquid phase of the oligomer cr the liquidizing after contact with the crystal of the oligomer are employed. As in an example, methylthiocyanate, ethylthiocyanate, or benzylthiocyanate together with propionic anhydride or saccinic anhydride were added to 1 g of tetraoxane oligomer and the content was sealed, then were subjected to a dose of 10/sup 4/ to 10/sup 6/ rads of gamma -radiation from a /sup 60/ Co source at room temperature, subsequently polymerized at 105 deg C. Melting point of the product obtained was 166 to 172 deg C (JA)
