Analysis of the 3.5-day effect in chicken embryos

Book ·
OSTI ID:4367782

From annual meeting of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Biophysik; Juelich, Germany (27 Sep 1973). Some characteristic radiation damages, the so- called 3.5-dayeffect, appear in chicken embryos when irradiated with 300 to 500 rads after the second day of incubation. When analyzing these damages, some sensitive zones of about two microns in diameter were found in the object. This dimension corresponds to the diameter of the nucleus of embryonal cells in chicken embryos and indicates that cell nuclei are damaged as well. (GE)
