Translated from Prib. Tekn. Eksp.; 16: No. 4, 63-64(1973). A neutron detector is described for spectrometry based on the time-of-flight method. The detector consists of 120 SNM-43 helium proportional counters that are placed in a polyethylene block. The area of the working surface of the detector is 2500 cm/ sup 2/, and the resolving time is 2 to 3 mu sec. The neutron-recording efficiency in the range from 30 eV to 200 keV varies smoothly from 10 to 6.3%. (auth)
