From international nuclear industries fair; Basel, Switzerland (16 Oct 1972). By combination of several wet chemical processes developed by NUKEM, KFA and SGAE for production of fuel kernels containing U or Th, respectively absorber kernels cortaining B, a socalled wet kernel line'' (NKL) was developed, by which all acute kernel types for high temperature reactors can be produced. These are, in the first -place, (U,Th) O/sub 2/-kernels of high density for the AVR and THTR reactors, which are produced in a pilot plant with a throughput of 10 kg per day and which from 1972 on will be produced in production scale; funther, kernels of (U,Th) C/sub 2/, ThO/sub 2/, UO/sub 2/, UC/sub 2/, UO/sub 2/ + xC, and carbonate containing B, of different porosity and in the range between 100 and 1000 mu m size.
