From international nuclear industrie's fair; Basel, Switzerland (16 Oct 1972). The 15 MW(e) AVR experimental pebble bed reactor has been in operation since 1968. The operation has been very satisfactory. In May 1971 the construction of the 300 MW(e) THTR Prototype Nuclear Power Plant was started; it is proceeding according to schedule. In late 1973 it is envisaged to submit an offer for a 1160 MW(e) HTR demonstration power plant. The further development of the HTR-line is directed to the direct cycle with a helium turbine and to the generation of process heat. (auth)
