Are high temperature reactors now of interest to the utilities

From international nuclear industries fair; Basel, Switzerland (16 Oct 1972). There is an increasing interest in the HTR (High Temperature Reactor) among the utilities. The status of the HTR is presented, comparing significant data with the water reactors and indicating where development and testing is still required. Of particular interest is the operating performance of the prototype HTR awaited. It is concluded that the HTR is an interesting reactor system and can compete with the approved systems, if said operating experience of prototype reactors corresponds to the expectations.
