OBSERVATION AND ANALYSIS OF K$sup -$ INTERACTIONS

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D

In nuclear emulsions, 289 K- mesons were observed. The mass amd lifetime of K- mesons is the same as that of K/sup +/ mesons. The K/sup -/ mean frec path in nuclear emulsion is geometric. Charge-exchange scattering and inelastic K-nucleus scattering are rare. Positive hyperons are emitted in 8% of K/sup -/ capture stars, negative hyperons in about 9%, hyperfragments in 5%. It is estimated that a LAMBDA /sup 0/ is trapped
