Intermediate structure in isobaric analogue resonances

Topics relevant to the subject of isobaric analog resonances (IAR) as intermediate structure are considered. Gross structure of isobaric analog resonances as intermediate structure'' considers the fine structure enhancement in the vicinity of the (IAR: an outline of theoretical work on fine structure enhancement and recent experimental results on proton reactions with Ge are given. Substructures in isobaric analog resonances'' discusses recent experimental results on /sup 70/Ge and /sup 66/Zn, which in some cases indicate the presence of substractures (different from the fine structure) within the IAR gross structure. It was concluded that there exists evidence concerning substructure within the range of the gross structure of IAR, and that these substructures are not compound-nucleus fine structure; that these substrtuctures cannot be explained by the presence of other parent states; that these substructures cannot be interpreted as Ericson fluctuations; and that a possible interpretation of the inelastic data can be given in terms of coupling of hallway states with configurations in the residual nucleus due to their simplicity, and that this, together with the structure in elastic scattering, ean be regarded as support for the doorway--hallway picture of nuclear reactions.
