From proceedings of the europhysics study conference on intermediate processes in nuclear reactions; Plitviec Lakes, Yugoslavia (31 Aug 1972). See CONF-720863-. The possibility is discussed that nuclear molecules can be formed during the scattering process. It is shown that intermediate structures arise if molecular states are excited. The nucleus -nucleus potential, molecular states and their excitation, and a coupled-channel calculation for the carbon-12-- carbon-12 system are considered. (JFP)
