A review is first made of nuclear fuels and fuel costs, and types of reactor available. The prospects for the commercial application of nuclear power to ship propulsion are then considered and a study made of the permissible cost for a tanker of 47,000 tons dw. Some consideration of the engineering problems and safely precautions is included. (auth)
