Differential thermometry was used to determine fusion points in two binary systems UCl/sub 3/-PuCl/sub 3/ and UCl/sub 3/-CaCl/sub 2/, and in two ternary systems UCl/sub 3/-CaCl/sub 2/-PuCl/sub 3/ and UCl/sub 3/-MgCl/sub 2/-P uCl/sub 3/. The inuous series of solid solution whose crystallization is compressed on going from UCl/sub 3/ to PuCl/sub 3/. An infiection point was found at 80 mol% PuCl/sub 3/ with a melting temperature of 723 deg C. The UCl/sub 3/ CaCl/sub 2/ system is characterized by the formation of solid solutions having a limited solubility of tae components. A eutectic is formed at a melting temperature of 630 deg C with 42 mol% UCl/sub 3/. The ternary system UCl/sub 3/- MgCl/sub 2/-PuCl/sub 3/ forms a eutectic having a melting temperature of 635 deg C and a component content of 28% PuCl/sub 3/, 27% UCl/sub 3/ and 45 mol% MgCl/sub 2/. The UCl/sub 3/-CaCl/sub 2/-PuCl/sub 3/ syste m is characterized by formation of a simple eutectic having a melting temperature of 595 deg C and a component content of 22% PuCl/sub 3/, 32% UCl/sub 3/ and 46 mol% CaCl/sub 2/.
