RADIATIVE PROTON CAPTURE BY Ni$sup 58$, Ni$sup 60$, AND Co$sup 5$$sup 9$

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The relative yields and recoil properties of the Cd/sup 115/ isomers independently formed in the 450-Mev proton fission of bismuth have been measured. The 43-day Cd/sup 115m/ isomer has a higher yield and smaller range than the 53hr Cd/sup 115/. Cd/sup 115m/ is also formed in a higher deposition energy process than Cd/sup 115/. These results are explained in terms of the high-spin states of the fission fragments resulting both from the high bombarding energy and from the fission act proper. (auth)
