The interaction of uranium tetrabromide with rubidium and cesium bromides leads to the formation of the compounds Rb/sub 2/UBr/sub 6/ and Cs/sub 2/ UBr/sub 6/. The melting points and densities of these compounds were determined and x-ray diffraction patterns of polycrystals were obtained. Examination of the x-ray diffraction patterns of rubidium and cesium hexabromouranates (IV) shows that they have a cubic structure of the K/sub 2/PtCl/sub 6/ type. (auth)
