Polycrystals of some halide complexes of uranium(III) were obtained and investigated by x-ray diffraction. The M/sub 2/UCl/sub 5/ compounds (M = K, Rb) are isostructural with K/sub 2/PrCl/sub 5/; RbU/sub 2/Cl/sub 7/ is of the same type as RbDy/sub 2/Cl/sub 7/ or KDy/sub 2/Cl/sub 7/. The coordination number of the uranium is 7. The M/sub 2/UBr/sub 5/ compounds (M = K-Cs) are isostructural with Cs/sub 2/DyCl/sub 5/, and the coordination number of the uranium is 6. Rb/sub 2/NaUCl/sub 6/ is a 12L-hexagonal polytype, the structural analog of Cs/sub 2/NaCrF/sub 6/. The most characteristic coordination number of uranium in the UHal/sub 3/-MHal systems is 8 for Hal = F, 7 for Hal = Cl, and 6 for Hal = Br.
