Combined cytolytic effect of x irradiation and cell-mediated immune reactions on tumor cells in vitro

In order to assess the possibility of combining radiotherapy and immunotherapy, the effect of x irradiation on in vitro reaction between immune lymphocytcs and target tumor cells was studied. Damage to tumor cells was quantitated via release of /sup 51/Cr from /sup 51/Cr-labelied target tumor cells. Splenic lymphocytes of C57BL mice injected with mastocytoma cells of DBA/2J mice were cytotoxic against mastocytoma cells in vitro. Damage to tumor cells was increased significantly on irradiating them with 2,000 rads prior to interaction wlth immune lymphocytes. (auth)
