LIFETIME OF THE 264-kev LEVEL OF Er$sup 16$$sup 7$

Journal Article · · Soviet Phys. JETP

The lifetime of the 264-kev level of Er/sup 167/ was determined by investigating the coincidences between x rays accompanying K-capture in Tm/sup 167/ and internal conversion electrons for the 57-kev transition. The half life was found to be T/sub 1/2/ = 12.0 plus or minus 0.51 x 10/sup -9/ sec. By taking into account the mixed transition of the 57-kev transition and the conversion in all the shells, the half life of radiative decay was calculated to be T/sub gamma /= 1.4 x 10/sup -8/ sec. This gives for the partial decay periods the values 0/sup -8/ sec. (J.S.R.)
