The conversion electron spectrum of Lu/sup 167/ + Yb/sup 167/ at 30 to 340 kev was analyzed. In addition to the lines appearing in Lu/sup 167/ yields Yb/sup 167/ yields Tm/sup 167/ yields Er/sup 167/ decay lines for Lu/ sup 169/ Yb/sup 169/, Lu/sup 170/, Lu/sup 171/, and Lu/sup 172/ were found and subtracted as background. The spectrum of Lu/sup 167/ + Yb/sup 167/ was plotted 1 hr after separation. Observations were made of Lu/sup 167/ decay (T/sub 1/2 = 55 plus or minus 3 min) and Yb/sup 167/ daughter production and decay (T/sub 1/2, = 18 min). The Lu/sup 167/ spectrum exhibited a gamma ray with an energy near 240 kev and the Yb/sup 167/ daughter emitted gammas of ~100 to 170 kev. A series of bright lines were observed after 1 to 6 hr which diminished with a half life of 55 plus or minus 5 min. After the disappearance of the short-period lines, the transition line at 240 kev was clearly discerned. It was concluded that the spectrum represented electron conversion of Lu/sup 167/ in equilibrium with Yb/ sup 167/. (R.V.J.)
