Radiochemical studies on aged or irradiated thorium acetylacetonate by sublimation method

Vacuum sublimation was performed on an aged thorium acetylacetonate for studying the behavior of the daughter nuclides in the thorium decay series. The purified thorium acetylacetonate was irradiated with either reactor neutrons or 14-MeV neutrons and sublimed after irradiation to examine the behavior of /sup 233/Th and /sup 233/Pa or /sup 231/Th. /sup 233/Th sublimed as its acetylacetonate, /sup 23 3/Pa did not sublime at all. A high enrichment of BETA --ray emitting thorium isotope, /sup 231/Th (T = 25.6 hr), was accomplished by this method. (auth)
