Radiation studies in lens culinaris

Journal Article · · Indian J. Genet. Plant Breed., v. 32, no. 3, pp. 331-339
OSTI ID:4328352
The types of changes produced as a result of irradiation may be due to chromosomal rearrangement or gene mutation or both. The manifestation of such changes may be affected by the percentage of germination of seeds, survival of plants and growth of seedlings, grown from irradiated seeds. Irradiation appears to affect different plant attributes also, e.g., height, number of primary branches, number of flowers, number of pods, and seeds set per plant. The effects of different doses of gamma rodiation on germination, survival, growth, and plant attributes in two varieties of lentil (Lens culinaris) are described. (auth)
