AEG Boiling Water Reactor: design, experiences, and future development (in German)

Book ·
OSTI ID:4325171
From international nuclear industries fair; Basel, Switzerland (16 Oct 1972). The outstanding features of the AEG boiling-water reactor are coolant recirculation inside the reactor pressure vessel, a compact pressure suppression system, and excellent emergency core-cooling properties. Well-proven activity treatment systems enable locations to be chosen in the vicintty of high population density. The experiences gathered so far are for the most part favorable, although certain difficulties have occurred during condensation processes in relief operation (in the case of Wuergass en). Sufficient operational experience has not yet been gained with cyclically stressed fuel elements of high power density. The primary objectives for further development are product assurance, improvement of operational behavior and safety. The new AEG-product line at present being planned will show more favorable construction from the safety aspect and a optimization of its design. (auth)
