The parameters of the thermal neutron field in the graphite F-1 reactor are reported. The reactor can be used as a highintensity standard thermal neutron source during the calibration of neutron detectors of various dimensions. An example is given of the use of this source for the calibration of a current ionization chamber in the region of neutron flux density from 10/sup 7/ to 10/sup 10/ neutrons/cm/sup 2/ sec with an error of plus or minus 5%.
