Thermal neutron flux density standard at C.S.N. Casaccia: design and calibration

A thermal neutron flux density standard built at the basaccia Nuclear Stadies Center of CNEN is described. This standard consists of six Am- Be neutron sources, with graphite and polyethylene as moderating media. The thermal neutron density flux, measured by gold activation, resulted 1.220 x 10/sup 4/ cm/ sup -2/ s/sup -1/ plus or minus 0. 7%, with a cadmium ratio of 9.31 plus or minus 0.05. (auth)
