Diffraction dissociation of K mesons in the 10 to 15 GeV/c incident momentum range

Journal Article · · Nucl. Phys., B, v. B67, no. 2, pp. 518-545
The diffractive dissociation model with reggeized particle exchange is applied to several preipheral three-body final states exhibiting strong enhancements in the near threshold region of a two-body subsystem. In particular, the reactions K/sup -/p yields K/sup */ (890) pi /sup -/p and K/ sup -/p yields K/sup */ (1420) pi /sup -/p at 14.3 GeV /c a re considered as well as several other reactions for which less experimental data is presently availabie. The model, although used in a rather simplified form, gives a good semiquantitative description and understanding; of the data, reproducing in a satisfactory manner the distributions in the various kinematical variables, the decay angular correlations and the reaction cross sections.
