AN EDDY CURRENT THICKNESS TESTER FOR COPPER PLATED ON URANIUM

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4311807
An instrument is described which measures the thickness of copper plating on a uranium base. The instrument makes use of the eddy current principle and is usable in the range of 0.004 to 0.012 in. with an accuracy of 5%. With minor modifications and adjustments the instrument may also be used to measure thicknesses as great as 0.035 in., of either copper or aluminum, on any substrate whose speciflc resistivity approximates that of uranium.
