Effect of potassium nitrate on photoreactivation of Escherichia coli cells

The increase of survival of ultraviolet-irradiated Escherichia coli cells, due to the splitting of thymine dimers to monomers by photoreactivation, is inhibited by potassium nitrate. The possible mechanisms of the inhibition are discussed. (auth)
