ON THE BACKWARD ELASTIC SCATTERING OF 660 Mev PROTONS ON CARBON NUCLEI (in Russian)

It is shown that the cross section of elastic scattering backwards of protons of energy 660 Mev on a carbon nucleus as a whole does not exceed 3 x 10/ sup -33/ cm/sup 2/sterad. In this connection, the mechanism is discussed on the ejection of fast fragments from nuclei when the latter interact with high-energy nucleons. (tr-auth)
