Spectrographic determination of rare-earth elements in solutions in the presence of aluminum and iron

Journal Article · · Ind. Lab. (USSR) (Engl. Transl.), v. 38, no. 12, pp. 1852-1854
OSTI ID:4310212
The effect of aluminum and iron on the spectrographic determination of rare earth elements in solution was studied. Investigations into the primary processes (delivery of the analyzed material to the discharge zone) showed that with aluminum and iron concentrations of 10-20 mg/ml the amourt of solution delivered into the discharge zone decreases by a factor of 2 to 2.5 compared with the analysis of samples not containing aluminum and iron. Reduction of the amount of substance delivered into the discharge leads to weakening of the spectra, which affects the sensitivity of the determination of the rare earth element. (LK)
