INELASTIC SCATTERING CROSS SECTIONS OF 3.6 Mev NEUTRONS BY ATOMIC NUCLEI (in Ukrainian)

Measurements of the inelastic scattering of 3.6-Mev neutrons on C, Na, Al, Fe, Zn, Se, Zr, Cd, Sn, Sb, Te, 1, Pb, Bl, and NaCl are presented. The inelastic cross sections were determined by the sphere transmission method. The threshold detector was a sclntillatlon detector with ZnS(Ag) phosphor. The threshold sensitivity of the detector was determined by the excitation function of the S/sup 32/(n,p)P/sup 32/reaction. The neutron source was the D(d,n)He/sup 3/ reaction. The deuterons were accelerated by an electrostatlc generator. Measurements were corrected for energy loss due to elastic scattering and for two inelastic collisions. The results are given in a table. The investigations showed that the cross sections of inelastic scattering increase steadily with the atomic weight. Deviation from the increase was found at the Zr, Pb, and Bl nuclel. (tr-auth)
