Differential inelastic scattering cross sections were measured for several elements, using the D(d,n)He/sup 3/ reaction to obtain 2.5-Mev neutrons. Most of the experiments utilized neutrons emitted at 90 deg to the deuteron beam. Conical scatterers were placed near nuclear emulsions, and an identical set of emulsions was placed on the opposite side of the neutron source for background measurements. Scatterers of Mg, Ni, Cu, Zr, Pb, and Bi were used and the results compared to those of other experimenters using other techniques such as the spherical-shell scatterer technique. There was good general agreement with other workers for Mg, Ni, and Cu, while for Bi and Pb, the results agreed with several researchers and disagreed with a few others. An extensive tabulation of results of other workers is given. (TTT)
