A marked dependence of the completeness of hardening under the experimental conditions indicated that in the process of hardening, the high- temperature defects were destroyed chiefly by their drift to stable channels, which are chiefly boundaries of grains and the surface of the sample. The energy of formation of defects in molybdenum was found to be 2.6 eV, which agrees with results of high-temperature determination of vacancies from the temperature dependence of the heat capacity. The energy of activation of transfer of hardened defects in molybdenum was found to be 1.9 eV. (TTT)
