From third Health Physics Society midyear topical symposium; Los Angeles, California, USA (29 Jan 1969). See CONF-690103P3. For the past four years, the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the Health Physics Society in cooperation with the Training and Manpower Development Program, BRH has conducted a 78-hour graduate level health physics survey course as a refresher and a study guide for applicants preparing for the American Board of Health Physics Certification examination. The course material and agenda encompasses 26 specific topics that cover the major theoretical, operational, and practical aspects of Health Physics. The problems associated with the selection and choice of instructors, teaching techniques and methods, reference materials, and texts are presented. Solutions to the administrative problems concerned with low- budget funding and directing of such a course are suggested. The practical need for this type of education and training, along with suggested guidelines for course organlzation and presentation are discussed. (auth)
