SPECTROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF CALCIUM IN THORIUM AND THORIA USING THE LUNDEGARDH TECHNIQUE
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4294066
The sample is dissolved in 50% nitric acid with the aid of a small amount of dilute hydrofiuoric acid. A cobalt internal standard solution is added and the solution spectrographed by the Lundegardh technique using a medium quartz spectrograph. The spectrograms are evaluated by an intensity methcd. The method is applicable to samples of thorium metal and oxide containing trace impurities other than calcium and aluminum. Calcium concentrations from 50 to 1000 ppm can be determined with a precision of approximately plus or minus 13%. (auth)
