The metal is dissolved by hydrochloric acid and cobalt added as an internal standard. The solution is examined by the Lundegardh flame technique and the resulting spectrograms evaluated by plate calibration technique. The method is suitable for samples containing from 0.003 to 0.05% calcium, with a precision of plus or minus 20% at the 0.005% level and plus or minus 10% at the 0.02% level. (auth)
