The constnuction and operation of a liquid hydrogen bubble chamber nine muches in diameter are described. It is expanded in the liquid phase by a stainless steel bellows and the construction is such that it may be used in an intense pulsed magnetic field. The latter is provided by an air-cored solenoid.
